About Us

Chiang Mai Clinical Pastoral Services work in conjunction with The Division of Philosophy and Religion at Chiang Mai University.

All chaplains are trained and certified at Chiang Mai University through regular accredited university programmes and classes. All training takes place on the Chiang Mai University main campus and Suan Dok University Hospital campus.

The Chiang Mai Clinical Pastoral Care Services outside of Chiang Mai University are affiliated with Chiang Mai University but are run independently by our staff and students to provide services at no cost.

The Chiang Mai CPE (CMCPE) website is run independently of the Chiang Mai University web hosts and servers to make the services more accessible to the public on the Internet without running into language difficulties and dead end web links or the burden of having to search the entire university website in times of need.

The objectives of Clinical Pastoral Care Services at Chiang Mai University are:

To provide pastoral, spiritual and social care services to patients, their families, the local community including the ex-pat community, and staff members in times of physical, emotional, spiritual or social crisis in a manner that is sensitive to race, gender, and religious traditions.

To offer a fully accredited Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) program that will train selected participants to develop professional competencies and pastoral skills.

To prepare for the needs and challenges of the future.

To make the most efficient use of limited resources.

To provide quality caring, effective, efficient, professional religious ministries to clients when requested.

To serve as a consultants to local law enforcement agencies and provide assistance in times of crisis, tourist police, immigration  and National Police.

To serve the local hospitals and help where needed.

To work with foreign consulates and keep them informed when a citizen of their country is in danger or need and do our best to assist.

To care for the local ex-pat community and help in times of crisis or need.

The chaplains from Chiang Mai CPE will continue to encourage collaboration between chaplaincy and other helping professions to ensure that no individual or family will have to face illness, grief and loss without support. We will always maintain a chaplain managed call centre and maintain a team of licensed professional clinicians who will embrace the holistic approach of healing and wellness.
